Oven components

The oven is one of the most sold and used household appliances in recent years. The oven industry is a constantly evolving sector: it offers a wide range of options to meet the needs of various applications. The latest generation of ovens are devices that look at practicality and technological innovation: they are equipped with new functions that enable the best cooking results, optimising time and energy consumption. From domestic to professional and industrial ovens, there are many different types available on the market today for different needs. Domestic appliance manufacturers have expanded their offer, proposing a varied choice of materials and different energy supplies for ovens. Technological progress has allowed cooking techniques to evolve, and the latest trend in this sense is the steam oven.

From the traditional gas oven to electric ovens, every device requires quality electromechanical components. In this article, we present the main components for ovens and SLIM's specific offering regarding oven light signaling.

Oven components: the latest trends

Domestic and professional ovens have evolved, following technological progress. The categories of ovens available today are the following: static ovens, ventilated ovens (which have a fan in the cavity), steam ovens (which have a small built-in boiler) and, last but not least, pyrolytic and catalytic ovens. The latter two types fall into the category of self-cleaning ovens. More specifically, the latest generation of pyrolytic ovens have self-cleaning programmes capable of eliminating grease and residues, bringing the oven's internal temperature up to 400° - 500°C.

Especially in the restaurant sector, the needs of commercial kitchens are often constrained by limited space, encouraging a trend towards the adoption of multifunctional equipment. This quest for versatility is motivated by the need to optimize resources and improve operational efficiency. In this regard, the emergence of combi ovens represents a significant innovation, as they allow both convection oven and steamer functionalities to be utilized, eliminating the need for separate devices.

Even in the domestic sphere, professional ovens are highly sought after and are among those devices that are transforming the landscape of high-end kitchens. What we are witnessing is a transition from the professional sector to the luxury home sector, which has led to a careful refinement of the aesthetic appearance and user experience of ovens while maintaining high performance. Diversified cooking programs, integrated ventilation systems (to eliminate any odor thanks to professional filters), and automatic cleaning systems are just some of the most innovative features of the latest devices available on the market.

Electromechanical components for ovens: the main types

Whether it's domestic or professional ovens, what electromechanical components does such a device require? Alarms and indicator lights, customized light signals, and switches are the main types of oven components. Let's examine them in detail together.

Oven warning lights or indicator lights

Oven indicator lights are installed inside the control panels. Their function is to indicate the operating status of the device or the achievement of the temperature set by the controls. The light, usually red or orange, is used to signal that the oven has reached the desired temperature. The indicator consists of four parts (lens or diffuser, light source, plastic support and connection), of which the light source is the core, and the choice must be between LED, neon lamp or incandescent lamp. In this type of application, LEDs can only be used under special conditions, as this source cannot be placed in places with too high a temperature (according to data sheets, it should not exceed 100°C). Ovens may be required to withstand temperatures of 150° and, in such applications, only neon lamps or incandescent lamps may be installed. The plastic support must also be selected in relation to the technical performance required, including resistance to different and high temperature ranges. In this case, polycarbonate can reach up to 120°C, while polysulphone goes up to 150°C.

Customized light signals for ovens

In addition to standard light signaling, it's possible to incorporate customized light signaling components. Specifically, at SLIM, we offer personalized light signaling solutions for ovens, including backlighting for knobs and the logo displayed on the front panel. These solutions are designed to provide a touch of elegance and functionality to high-end ovens. Knob backlighting not only adds an eye-catching aesthetic element but also provides clear visual guidance during oven use. Our technical team is committed to providing creative, high-quality solutions that meet diverse aesthetic and functional needs.

Electric oven switch

The electric oven switch is a basic component that is used for critical current loads to have direct control over the switching on and off of equipment.
Each indicator or switch is distinguished by its precise configuration and intended use within the device; therefore, it is up to the oven manufacturer to determine its aesthetic characteristics and technical requirements.
