The coffee machine market

The years of the Covid-19 pandemic have significantly influenced the performance of the global Coffee machine market. The closure of cafés, hotels and catering businesses led to a decline in demand for professional out-of-home coffee machines. On the other hand, there has been an increase in demand for domestic models, with consumers turning to speciality or semi-professional solutions to prepare excellent coffee, even at home.

The increase in demand for advanced coffee machines in the residential sector has helped boost market growth. According to Host Milano, the figures for 2021 are positive and encouraging. Last year, Italy recorded an increase in coffee machine exports of +14.1% compared to 2020, confirming its position as the leading exporter of coffee chain products with a market share of 21.3%.

The coffee machine business is expected to grow thanks to the proposal of innovative solutions for increasingly informed and quality-conscious consumers. This is also demonstrated by the Coffee Machines Market Forecast to 2028 report, which states that the global coffee machine market was valued at USD 13.20 billion in 2021, with a forecast of growth to USD 17.73 billion by 2028.

Coffee machines: the trends

2022 is seeing the consolidation of a number of trends that have already emerged in recent years in the coffee machine sector. New trends in product design are inspired by changes in technology and the demand for sustainability.

Technology will become the beating heart of new coffee machines, integrating systems to automate the coffee dispensing process with systems for the automatic management of fresh milk, allowing the drink to be personalised.
In response to a market that demands more technological innovation, manufacturers in the sector are focusing on the adoption of cloud computing systems, connected and integrated with mobile apps for the control and management of machines, even remotely. These are digital innovations that allow you to monitor the operating status of the machine, detect technical problems and implement remote maintenance to resolve them in a timely manner. In this way, we can optimise the performance of the device and avoid sudden breakdowns.

But innovation is also increasingly linked to sustainability in its various forms. The technologies developed for coffee machines are geared towards minimising environmental impact while respecting sustainability. The most ambitious projects set targets for reducing the environmental impact that, in addition to energy-saving, are based on eco-design principles. The increasing focus on the circular economy has in fact led to a demand for components and materials that can be recycled wherever possible.

AN OVERVIEW OF COFFEE MACHINES

Lighting in professional coffee machines

A professional coffee machine must combine productivity and design: handle high temperatures and pressures while maintaining high performance, all housed in an aesthetically pleasing device that also acts as a piece of furniture. In the design of a machine of this calibre, the quality of the materials and components to be integrated is also fundamental to the aesthetic result.

In this context, at SLIM we work side by side with coffee machine manufacturers with a Made in Italy design and a high-quality range of light indicators to "give light" and highlight all the features of coffee machines.

The lighting systems that can be integrated into these dispensers range from standard panel signalling to more prominent signalling with LED micro-spotlights, to original backlighting systems with optical fibre. All components can be customised and adapted to technical and aesthetic requirements.
